I am Simon Willins. I ran APS Interiors for twenty years with a passion and vision to incorporate quality and traditional skills into modern construction, into renovation and conservation. I have worked hands on in that sector, bringing with me an existing wealth of skill and knowledge as a third generation carpenter and joiner, developed into cabinet maker. In addition, I learned how to work lead, build in brick and stone, work with tile and concretes, with lime mortar and many many other materials in conservation and restoration for listed buildings.
In shopfitting, I learned to use metals and acrylics, laminates and incorporate technology. APS blended these together for sympathetic development in sensitive listed buildings.

I now teach the craft to students entering the trade and progressing. I urge students to reflect on their heritage, from bronze age dwelling construction techniques through ages of change to the modern era, and future materials. Buildings use many resources, keeping them well and alive is the best way of making them low in their carbon footprint. Keeping that knowledge alive is my purpose.
